My name is Jimmy Lewis. I am a resident of St. George Island, FL. I enjoy playing golf and socializing. Eighteen years ago, I had a left hip replacement, and in November of 2023, an infection set in from my body rejecting the hardware that was placed years ago.

I was going to play golf one Sunday and felt a great deal of pain. My wife and I agreed to seek help at Sacred Heart Hospital in Port St. Joe, FL, who referred me to CRMC in Tallahassee, FL where Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic performed surgery to remove the hardware two days later. I remained in the hospital for nine days and met with the admissions personnel from Arabella Health and Wellness of Carrabelle, to discuss possible rehabilitation services before returning home.

My wife is always involved in my care, and we wanted to be as close to home as possible to make it easier for her to visit me often. I can’t express enough, my gratitude to the wonderful Therapy team and Nursing staff at Arabella Health and Wellness of Carrabelle, for their excellent job of getting me back home and living my life as independently as possible.

There, I received Physical and Occupational therapy five days a week and am proud to say that I will be discharging home on February 8 th , 2024. My wife and I are grateful and would recommend their services to anyone, especially if you are a local resident like me. It has made things so much easier for my family and friends to visit while I was here.

Mr. Seamore is this month’s success rehab story for Arabella Health and Wellness of Selma. Secondary to being referred to therapy because of generalized weakness and recently functioning independently at home, the hospitalization resulted in a decline in functional IADLs, ADLs, mobility and transfers. Upon initial evaluation the occupational therapist and physical therapist revealed Mr. Seamore had some functional decline in ADLs, transfers, mobility and gait. Due to having decreased strength, balance, and poor endurance which resulted in max. assist for ADLs, Transfers, mobility and only being able to ambulate 10 feet.

Mr. Seamore willingly participated in therapy for close to two months, which resulted in independence with all ADLs, transfers and mobility. Mr. Semore’s gait improved to unlimited ambulation and balance improved to Fair/Good- for gathering items in the room during am care. Mr. Seamore regained independence, therefore; his family decided to discharge home the week and was very appreciative of the care received while at out facility. Therefore, the therapy department has identified Mr. Seamore as our February rehab success story.

This is Mr. Nick Vergos. Mr. V suffered a R CVA and has been working diligently to restore function of his L side. He went from not being able to transfer or sit unassisted to now performing transfers independently, independently propelling his wheelchair, and ambulating with a rolling walker. His has improved in his ability to safely and independently perform most ADLs including dressing, grooming, and assisting in bathing. His speech and swallowing have improved significantly as well. He will be discharging back home with home health this weekend.
